Egypt's Mubarak sacks government, vows reforms

Egypt's Mubarak sacks government, vows reforms - INQUIRER.net, Philippine News for Filipinos

Hosni Mubarak is a dictator, a corrupt and hideous leader, like the Philippines' Ferdinand Marcos. He's also Washington's puppet enjoying the riches of Egypt. True democracy will not happen under his rule, moreover with US and the World Bank behind the scene. "New steps will be taken to contain unemployment, raise living standards, improve services and stand by the poor," he said. But these are just lip service to impede the peoples' protests. Eradicating corruption alone will not solve Egypt's problems. Sacking the government alone will not solve the problem. Overhauling the bureaucracy alone will not solve the problem. The same's true with the Philippine government. P-noy's "matuwid na daan" cannot cure poverty. Only a complete systems change is the answer. Systems change means replacement of present economic policies that are based on globalization, with those far more progressive and will really benefit the masses. Example of this is the scrapping of the Epira Law, which will return to public ownership the power industry. At present, the people are being held hostage by the pricing schemes of the players like Aboitiz, the SMC group, and other big business. The people have no voice in fixing the price of electricity. Its all in hands of the investors, thanks to the law, and the lawmakers, most of whom are part of the upper class and big business. Going back to Egypt, if Mubarak will still be the ruler, nothing will change. The spirit of democracy, of freedom, of reconciliation and of moving forward as a nation, may fill the air for the first few months, just like what happened in the Philippines after P-noy's election last May 2010. But it will only be a thin cloud easily blown by the gusty air of capitalism. When all's business as usual, the system of capital will again cloud the entire Carribean country.
